The Truth About Your Weight and Metabolism
Your metabolism most definitely has a direct impact on your weight. The faster your inner metabolism burns, the thinner you will be. A slow metabolism causes your food to be processed at a slower pace, and allows your body to absorb all of the fat and calories from the foods you eat. Your metabolism rate is not set in stone, and can be increased naturally.
While you may not want to hear it, exercise is the number one way to boost your metabolism. If you wish to reap the benefits, you will need to exercise on a regular basis. When you do this, your body will begin to burn more calories, even when you are resting! If you have never exercised, now it the time to start. If you already exercise, consider mixing your workout up, and increasing the length of time you exercise.
Water is another natural metabolism booster. Most of us do not get the recommended amount of water that we need daily. This not only causes the metabolism to slow down, but can cause us to become dehydrated. Dehydration leads to fatigue, and also decreases brain function.
What you eat is another factor. Sugar and simple carbohydrates are among the worst foods to have if you wish to rev up your metabolism. Your body must work harder to digest foods that are high in nutritional value, and therefore will burn more calories when doing so. Consider complex carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables your friend in the battle of the bulge.
While genetics and age do play a part in your metabolic makeup, you are not defenseless in controlling your metabolism. Water, diet, and exercise are all of the weapons you need. Though you may not have been blessed to have been born with a naturally high metabolism, you can take matters into your own hands, and beat nature at it’s own game.
